Member of The Month

Remember a couple of months ago we did a guest designer blog hop for 4 weeks? Well, it was so popular - we decided to bring it back! Woohoo! This time however we will be shining the scrapwhisper spotlight on one of our very own scrapwhisper fans!

This month our favourite member is..... Rosey, otherwise known in our forum as redsquirrel.

You can check out Roseys blog here and go and leave her some love. She has some great work and having recently purchased some copic markers is weaving her magic on some gorgeous cards.

Rosey is English and currently living in Singapore. She started scrap-booking last year when she decided to make an album for her in-laws’ Ruby Wedding anniversary. She only gave herself about 10 weeks so it was a real baptism by fire. She went on an afternoon’s basic course at her local scrap-booking shop, threw herself into it completely, and the last page was finished the morning she collected her in-laws from the airport for their holiday with her and her hubby! Rosey's home is in the UK’s beautiful west country, and someday they'll be moving back.

Rosey says that scrap-booking is pretty big in Singapore (but not card-making) and she is lucky enough to live within 20 minutes’ walk of 4 craft shops. Although most of the same brands are imported from the US, the UK, and Australia, the style is very different there from the west, with many-layered dimension and a busy hotch-potch of embellishments and colours being very popular.
Rosey by nature is a linear, ordered, colour-coordinated person, so mixing her instincts with the local ideas is a challenge. But she really love challenges: that little push out of her comfort zone always ends up taking her somewhere really interesting. Strangely enough, she also gets inspired by other people’s requests for ideas. In thinking of ways to help them, she finds her own imagination going into over-drive, and then she just has to try her ideas out for herself.

Rosey says she always has half a dozen projects in various stages of completion. "I’m very much into re-purposing, recycling, re-using and not wasting anything. Even non-acid-free things are made into cards, and ribbons intended to hang clothes up by, end up in my ribbon boxes. I have a personal challenge not to cut into a new piece of designer paper to make a card, and I save every tiny scrap of paper. Once it’s too small to punch anything out of, it goes into a bag, and one day I’m going to turn all my scraps into pulp and use it to make new embellishments. Well that’s the plan"

In honour of Rosey being "member of the month" all of the scrapwhispers DT have scraplifted her layouts and cards and are displaying them on their blogs today. So join us in our member of the month blog hop and look out for some additional blog candy on your way.
You can start by checking out NANCYS BLOG
and dont forget to pop back on Sunday for our next weekly challenge and next month for another member of the month post!
eta - blogger posted this early today so check back at 9am USA time and 2pm UK time to take part in the blog hop!!

Challenge 42 - Colour Challenge

Welcome back to all our scrapwhisperer followers! We hope you enjoyed your two week break and all refreshed and raring to go! If you signed up for the next round of the team whisper challenge then the team announcements are being posted in the forums today - go check out which team you are on, who is your design team leader and whats going to happen!

If you missed the sign ups this time, we're sorry but we are unable to take on any more participants now. However, the next team game sign ups will begin on 1st November so check back with us often and you can sign up to play then.

Each week whilst the team game is happening, we hold weekly challenges for anyone and everyone to play. You do not have to be signed up to the team game, the forums or our gallery. You simply need to enjoy a challenge, like scrapbooking or card making and have somewhere online you can upload your creations to so you can link us too them! International applicants are welcomed - so the only excuse you have for not playing along is if you have a pile of ironing you have been ignoring for a while! :)

That brings us nicely onto this weeks challenge....

We would like you to create a layout or card using the colours Pink, Brown and Cream. You must use 4 buttons on your creation and no more than 2 photographs!

Here is what our DT came up with to inspire you:

Georgina created a Thankyou card
Telah produced a layout about her girls love of pink
Sarah created an adorable baby layout
Nilsa wanted to record the relationship of two of her girls
Nancy shows the fun side of children in her cute layout

Karry shows the relationship between her and her daughter
Helen recalls a fond memory

Every 2 weeks we have a random drawing for one lucky winner to win a prize. This fortnights prize is a Making Memories 6x9 Spooky Alley album set (pictured top right). To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is create your card or layout and then either link us to it by posting a comment on this blog post, or uploading your creations to our gallery. You have until midnight on Saturday 12th Sept in whatever time zone you are in to do this.
You can enter as many times as you like with different cards and layouts, you can do either one or both of challenge 42 and 43 to be entered.
Good luck, have fun and welcome back! :)
