Member of the month

This month we have chosen a very special person to be our Member of the month!

It's Mary!! Otherwise known to the online community as Mjbee. Go and check out Marys gallery here.

Mary has been a scrapwhisper player ever since the very beginning, way back before we had our very own blog. Mary was even responsible for the second round way back in 2007.

Last month marked Mary's 3 year scrapbooking anniversary - "I was homeschooling my son and needed something to do at the table while he was doing his schoolwork. I had no idea what I was doing and turned to the internet to see what I could find. That certainly was information overload! After a couple of weeks of browsing galleries and reading, reading, reading, I dug in. I never imagined that my tabletop hobby would grow into such an obsession. Now I have my own scrapbooking room that my husband says looks like a store"

Mary has a great eye for design and has a great knack for capturing the essence of her photos in her layouts, by careful selection of the products she uses.

"Most of my layouts are inspired by my photos. I’m not typically an event scrapper. To me, birthday and Christmas pictures are always so similar that they’re not all that fun to scrap. Give me a silly picture, a one time event, a funny story or memory and I can scrap the night away. I love the artsy part of creating, but always want the pictures to be the main focus of my layouts. I use challenges, scraplifts and sketches to get me going. I like looking through galleries and blogs for ideas too. I have tried digital scrapping and enjoy it, but not as much as I enjoy the process of creating with paper. In the last year or two I have also began making cards. Card making seems a natural extension to scrapbooking and is a fabulous excuse to increase my stash of stamps. "

Mary's layouts are just crammed full of yumminess and we especially love the layouts about her kids and the fun things they do. Mary is a valued member of the scrapwhisper community and we urge you to go and check out her gallery for more inspiration.

"I have participated in the Scrap Whispers challenges that Georgina started from the beginning. They have always been so much fun and the big reveal is always worth the wait. I’m so happy to still be a part of it all"
In honour of Mary, the scrapwhisper team have all scraplifted some of her creations and are showcasing them on their blogs. Start by looking at Nancy's blog and then follow the links through all of the Design Team. When you reach the end we have a surprise for you !!
nb. as the DT are all in different time zomes, please be patient with the links and if you find a broken one come back in a few hours and all should be well in the world! :)

Challenge 46 - Helens Challenge

How do you fancy being in with a chance of winning this gorgeous 12x12 collection pack of Basic Grey Papers - Indian Summer?

Well, it couldnt be easier - all you have to do is take part in challenge 46 and/or 47 and in couple of weeks we put all the names into a hat and draw one lucky winner!

Challenge 46 is a fun one - it was set by our very own Helen! Helen would like you to ..........

Have a little reminisce about your childhood, or maybe your teen years. Is there something - a place, a person, an activity, a TV programme, a piece of music - that really brings it all back? It could be a park or playground you went to, an item of clothing you coveted for months and nagged your parents to buy for you, a film that really caught your imagination...BUT it must be something you don't actually have a photo of! Find a photo online, cut up a magazine, use a pic of your kids doing something similar and create a comparison. If none of the above appeals to you, don't use a photo at all.The journaling's important for this one, so make sure you add something about your memory - it can be hidden if you'd prefer.

Here is what the DT came up with:

Helen

Karry

Nilsa

Telah
(more DT layouts to follow shortly)
So there we have it - your challenge for this week. We certainly cant wait to find out some of those great childhood memories! Link us to your layouts in this thread by midnight next Saturday to be entered into the drawing or of course, upload to our gallery !!
