Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by the scrapwhisper blog today - for our regular readers you will know that on 15th of every month we hold a DT Blog hop. Each month a different DT member provides a tutorial and all the DT join in the fun and give it a go. They then showcase their creations on their own blogs and by following the links all the way through each blog you will get to see how they got on. If you want to give the tutorial a go yourself we would be delighted to see what you created so don't forget to link us to your projects when you are done!
This month, in honour of the "back to school" theme all over the internet right now - Kelly has provided a tutorial as to how to create a backpack mini album...................................
Kelly: I’m going to show you how to make this mini album, which I think is perfect for showcasing photos from days out, camping trips, holidays or school photos (the theme I chose)

First you will need;
Frame
11”x 3” sturdy cardstock (the frame)
11” x 2 ¾” sturdy cardstock x2(for the pages)
3” x 2 ¾ paper covered cardstock (top flap)
Pocket
5x5 squared patterned paper (for front pocket)
2 ¼ x 2 ¼ square cardstock (for pocket top flap
4” x 2 ½ decorative papers to decorate the pages (this size does not fit the page size exact so you can make them bigger to cover the inner pages if you want to)
2 brads
Magnets or Velcro
Ribbon
Adhesive, small hole punch, scoring tool

Take your 11” x 3” strip and score at 4 ½, 5 ½, and 6 ½ then fold into a tent fold.
(Score the two 11” x 2 ¾ strips in the same places and fold the same way, put aside for now.)

Next, take your top flap piece (3 x 2 ¾) score along the short side at 1 ¼ and 1 ½.
Attach this to the back of your frame and attach a brad, making sure you have the flap overhanging.

Score your 5x5 paper at ½” in one end so you have 5 x 4 ½”.
Fold you paper up to your score line and stick the ½” down so you have a “tube”.
Fold in half to create a double pocket. Take your piece of 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ c/s and score at 1” and 1 ¼.
Attach this piece to your pocket as you did with the flap on the frame

With your pre scored and folded strips of 11” x 2 ¾” card, now decorate as you wish and then adhere these into the frame, by slotting the layers together

Punch Holes into the backpack frame like this:

Using a single piece of ribbon, start at one bottom corner, tie a knot at the bottom to stop it pulling through, bring up into the top hole. When you have the length of the “strap“ you want to tie a knot then thread into the very top hole, put your finger on it while you thread it through so you get a loop the top of the bag, then thread it through as before, ending in the opposite bottom corner.
You can now attach either magnet or Velcro for closures or you can get creative with a ribbon closure.
You can also create a gift treat bag, by just making the frame and attaching a cello bag filled with sweets or you could use the frame to create a very different looking card!
